Case Study - TMV - Lethality

OVIK was engaged to carry out a full lethality proposal for the TMV platform.  The result was a comprehensive analysis of the platform set against a generic CONUSE model.

Over time the consultancy provided by OVIK evolved to encompass a broader range of platform applications and capability.  OVIK supplied the twin .50 calibre MAXIMUS weapon mount and the 7.62mm GPMG commander's swing mount systems as the basic lethality package for the TMV Special Forces variant.

Mobility - Lethality - Survivability - Technical - Design - Market Analysis

OVIK was initially forged as a pure consultancy  - providing expert advice to major and minor OEMs in respect of military vehicle design and application.  Our cumulative in-house knowledge, hard-won over decades of service on the front line of defence vehicle warfare, engineering, trials test and development placed OVIK - from its infancy - in high demand.

OVIK has been instrumental in assiting major OEMs such as BAE Systems and Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) in developing world-class equipment.  We offer a tailored consultancy service, bringing our combined skills and knowledge to bear in support of our customers' products.  From technical assessments to lethality enhancement, from market analysis to Concepts of Operations and requirements writing - OVIK has added value, strength and depth to many land systems products and platforms.

Case Study - ST Kinetics - WARTHOG

OVIK was commissioned as the lead UK consultancy for the development and transformation of the ST Kinetics BRONCO All Terrain Tracked Carrier (ATTC) into WARTHOG - a vehicle developed for the UK MOD's Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) programme.

Background

Following the highly successful deployment of BvS10 VIKING (ATV(P)) into Aghanistan (with OVIK''s CEO commanding the VIKING capability in theatre) the VIKING platform became increasingly more vulnerable as the threat levels increased. Consequently, UK MOD decided to upgrade and improve the survivability of the all terrain vehicle (protected) (ATV(P)) capability.

BvS10 VIKING was not suitable for significant survivability upgrades due to limitations with gross vehicle weight. UK MOD, in a bid to provide theatre commanders with continuity in respect of a true all terrain armoured capability, looked east to Singapore - and Singapore Technologies Kinetics' BRONCO ATTC as a possible basis for a new, more heavily protected all terrain capability to replace VIKING in Afghanistan.

Given that the OVIK CEO and many of the OVIK team had seen VIKING through nearly seven years of design, development and employment onto operations in Afghanistan - OVIK provided the obvious choice as a UK consultancy to assist ST Kinetics in understanding the UK MOD requirement for a VIKING replacement, assisting and advising STK with respect to the UK procurement process whilst being perfectly placed to advise on design and development and to assist with trials and UK support.

Over a two and half year period OVIK provided a very broad range of services in support of the initial STK bid and the equipment development programme including providing full UK support, trials delivery and development engineering support.

"On behalf of STK, I would like to thank OVIK for the excellent working relationship between us. We have certainly gone through a lot together, especially the challenges we faced with the Warthog programme. To this end, we are most appreciative of the contributions of OVIK".       - Jimmy Mak - Vice President ST Kinetics

"Hi Jez,

Many thanks for the 24/7 support and advise. WARTHOG is fielding on 10th September.  Please help me extend a big thank-you to the OVIK team, without them, this final result will also not be happening.  Best regards -Dom"

Case Study - Plattmounts

W&E Platt - an Australian company operating under the name Plattmounts, designs and manufactures weapon mounting systems.  Following OVIK's inception in 2008 Platt made an approach to OVIK to run the newly established Plattmounts Europe.

Between 2008 and 2010 OVIK operated Plattmounts Europe from within the OVIK HQ in Dorset. With many of the OVIK staff having operational experience with Platt weapon systems on the battlefield - mostly where Platt systems were employed on either the VIKING or VECTOR vehicles - OVIK was the obvious choice to take Plattmounts systems onto new platforms across Europe.

This unique operational experience added huge value and credibility to the Plattmounts Europe range of equipment. OVIK represented the only operational experience within the Plattmounts global company.
