PHOENIX - B6+ Armoured Vehicle
POLICE - SECURITY
OVIK has recently supplied a fleet of PHOENIX vehicles to Avon & Somerset Police. Head of Operations, Chief Superintendent Lawrie Lewis:
The Snatch Phoenix Land Rovers from OVIK were the most cost effective expansion to our fleet of protected vehicles for use in serious public disorder and firearms situations. Designed with the "shock and awe" effect in mind they are a clear statement that we have the capability and intent to swiftly move into the heart of any disorder and remove the ringleaders. With its all round heavy metal and ballistic protection the Snatch Phoenix offers officers the correct level of security to carry out their role when under physical attack or facing a small arms threat.
Simple in their internal layout seating a total of eight with rear, front and roof openings they enable flexibility in their tactical deployment for Public Order serials, dog teams, Evidence Gatherers and firearms officers.
PHOENIX - the ultimate flexible armoured vehicle solution

PHOENIX - General Design Philosophy
Born of a battlefield pedigree and honed for public order operations through OVIK's experience of producing public order vehicles for Northern Ireland.
PHOENIX is suitable for a range of policing and security tasks whilst remaining prepared for the worst possible public order case scenario.
In addition to the inherent armour protection that is a legacy of the original SNATCH donor vehicle, the PHOENIX design seeks to improve and upgrade the overall protection to handle the multitude of potential threats from missiles etc characteristic of a public order scenario. At OVIK we call this process 'riot hardening' - or just 'hardening' - which is somewhat distinct from 'armouring'. PHOENIX (like its stable mate PANGOLIN) is both armoured and hardened.
HARDENING - Features
No two public order scenarios are alike. Threats to police vehicles involved in public order operations are very broad; riotors can be extremely imaginative when it comes to attacking police vehicles in a public order scenario. It's prudent therefore to cater for the worst possible case scenario in order to protect the vehicle and its occupants.
In the first instance the vehicle's inherent composite armour shell provides a good degree of protection from missiles such as bricks, concerete blocks, stones and general urban detritus which may either be launched at the vehicle or indeed dropped onto the vehicle from buildings / bridges etc. In addition to the main armour OVIK hardens the vehicle to include:
Please note all of these features are OPTIONS - OVIK works with customers to scope the correct specification according to operational requirements and budgets.
Impact / Direct Trauma
Vehicle Security
Fire Resistance
